South African Nationals Deported from Ireland

03 February 2026

Irish immigration authorities have deported 63 South African nationals on a specially arranged charter flight departing from Dublin Airport. Among those removed were nine children and ten individuals with prior criminal convictions.

The operation was conducted by the Garda National Immigration Bureau under the oversight of Justice Minister Jim O’Callaghan. Officials described the deportation as part of a broader strategy aimed at reinforcing immigration compliance and addressing cases where individuals had exhausted all legal avenues to remain in the State.

According to government sources, each case underwent legal review procedures in accordance with Irish immigration law and international human rights standards. Authorities emphasized that deportation measures are applied only after asylum appeals, residency applications, or humanitarian requests have been fully processed and denied where applicable.

The Justice Department further stated that intensified enforcement actions reflect a wider effort to maintain the credibility and fairness of Ireland’s immigration system. The operation signals the government’s commitment to balancing humanitarian obligations with lawful migration management.
